Launching and Positioning an Application on Startup

By using DisplayFusion's powerful custom Functions and Trigger rules, you can automatically launch applications on Windows startup with an exact size and location. The steps and video below demonstrate how to do this for Notepad, but these apply to any application on your system.
  • Open the app and position it where you like. This is where the Trigger rule will position it when activated.
  • Open App

  • Right-click the DisplayFusion icon and click "Settings."

  • Select the Functions tab and click the "Custom Function" dropdown. Then click "Add Custom Function."

  • Type a name into the "Name" field (e.g. "Launch Notepad").
  • Click the "Function Action" dropdown and select "Launch Application"

  • Click the "Select Application" button and double-click your application or select it and click "OK."
  • Select Application

  • Click "OK."

  • From the Settings menu, now click the "Triggers" tab.
  • Ensure the "Enable Triggers" checkbox is enabled.

  • Click "Add."

  • Click the "Event" dropdown and select "DisplayFusion Starts."

  • Below the Actions pane, click the "Add" button and select "Run Fuction."
  • Add Function

  • Click the dropdown selector and select the Custom Function you created earlier, then click "OK."

  • Click "OK."

  • From the Triggers tab, click "Add" again.
  • This time, select "Window Created" from the "Event" dropdown.

  • Enable the "Process Filename" checkbox. From the pop-up window, select the desired application and click "OK."

  • Below the Actions pane, click "Add" and select "Move Window to Specific Size and Location."

  • Drag the blue target onto the application window.
  • Drag Target onto Application
  • Click "OK," then click "OK" on the Edit Trigger window to Save.

  • Click "OK" from the Triggers menu to apply and save your changes.

DisplayFusion 9.1 Now Available!

We're very excited to announce that DisplayFusion 9.1 is now available for download! This release fixes a few issues that were present in 9.0.

DisplayFusion 9.1 Highlights

  • Important! This build uses a new code signing certificate, you may receive a Smart Screen warning from Microsoft
  • Resolved a memory leak that occurred on some machines
  • Resolved an issue where the screen saver wouldn't start if the wallpaper interval was lower than the screen saver timeout
  • Resolved an issue where icons were missing from Alt+Tab window with certain settings
  • Resolved an issue that caused the desktop to flash when using Website wallpaper
  • A few other minor fixes and improvements

ClipboardFusion 5.2 Now Available!

We're very excited to announce that ClipboardFusion 5.2 is now available for download! We've fixed a few bugs and added some subtle performance increases.

  • HotKeys will now be bound properly after restoring the Settings
  • The Clipboard Manager will now centre on the Desktop correctly
  • Triggers will now properly ignore programs on the "Ignore Programs" list
  • One-key navigation will now properly loop back to the top of the focused list
  • "Move Down" option for the Online Pinned Item list will now work properly
  • General fixes and improvements
